How to change your managing agent, and why it is easier than you think

Since setting up Foxbrush, one of the most common questions we’ve received is “how can I change my managing agent?”. Today, we are excited to launch our Interactive Leasehold Management Tool, which will help you understand exactly how to make a change.

We know how demoralising it is to get home after a long day at work to come home and be immediately reminded that the roof leak still isn’t fixed, the cleaners haven’t showed up when they were supposed to, or the lift has broken down yet again. You’ve reported all of these issues several times but your managing agent just doesn’t reply, or never seems to make progress.

Through our consultancy and block management work, we have met so many people who are faced with issues like these in their building and who feel completely hopeless about things ever getting better - but the good news is there is almost always something you can do to remove a poor managing agent.

The first step is to understand who exactly has the power to fire and hire the managing agent for your building, and – if you and your neighbours don’t currently have this power – learning how to obtain this legal right.

Our new tool will ask you a few simple questions and will then identify the best way forward for you. If you’re not sure about any of the steps, it also provides guidance notes and links to further resources to refer to later.

If you would like to appoint a new managing agent, the tool links directly to our contact form so you can tell us more about what you need. Although it may seem daunting to appoint a new agent, our tried-and-tested templates and checklists take all the pain out of the process. We take care of everything for you, and all you need to do is let us work our magic. It really is easier than you think!

At Foxbrush, we are passionate about improving the standards of block management and we hope the interactive tool will help you find a way to make a change for the better.
